Hampshire House is Kambala’s purpose-built Early Learning Centre. Our staff are part of a dynamic learning community committed to high quality care and education for children 6 months of age to school age.
The Junior School is a vibrant and active part of Kambala for girls from Preparation to Year 6. Here the focus shifts to fostering a deeper sense of community and togetherness.
Our boarding community is made up of young women from across Australia and overseas, adding vibrance and diversity to our school community.
Years 7 to 9 boarders occupy the beautiful heritage-listed Tivoli building in the heart of the campus, which boasts uninterrupted views of Sydney Harbour and a sense of old-world charm.
Years 10 to 12 boarders enjoy greater privacy, independence and social privileges at the purpose-built Fernbank building to help them develop the skills necessary for life after school. All girls have extended access to school facilities such as libraries and the swimming pool.
Learn MoreOne of the main reasons Kambala enjoys a fine reputation is the high academic achievements of its students. These are measured by the results of formal examinations such as the Higher School Certificate (HSC) and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and by the many academic competitions the girls are encouraged to enter.
Students in Year 7 follow a compulsory curriculum largely determined by Board of Studies requirements. After Year 7, students have the opportunity to elect more subjects each year until Years 11 and 12, where the widest possible choice is made available through the option of the HSC or IB Diploma.
Kambala has a vibrant and progressive Music Department. Our Classroom Instrumental Program was one of the first of its kind in Sydney and remains one of the most comprehensive.
Girls are strongly encouraged to play competitive sport and teams successfully take part on competitions and carnivals. Kambala has outstanding facilities for Sport including an indoor heated pool, oval, gymnasium and tennis courts.
The Playfair Pool is named after former Olympic swimmer and Kambala Old Girl, Judy Playfair ‘71. Students and Boarders enjoy use of the indoor heated pool throughout the year.
Debating and public speaking have long been important in the life of the School. Kambala girls debate with great success in a variety of competitions.
Kambala’s Drama Department provides students with countless opportunities to develop their skills in expression, problem-solving, creativity and public speaking through a number of performance opportunities.
Student and staff wellbeing is a priority for Kambala. All members of the School community have the right to enjoy a safe and positive environment that promotes tolerance and respect. We recognise the importance of raising girls who are resilient and have a connection with life’s journey and a global perspective. At Kambala:
Kambala offers a variety of scholarships each year. Applications are welcomed from girls who are either current students or who are attending other schools at the time of application. All scholarship examinations are conducted by external providers at Kambala. These examinations usually take place in Term 1 each year.
